ABSTRACT

In this paper we will discuss for phones on many overlooked characteristics. This system is very important for the users. 1: The difference between line phone and cell phone is that the first can make the people to communicate each other but only from a building, and the second communicate the people in every location.

KEYWORDS

Phones, telephone, cell phone, landline, e-mail, Smartphone, Skype

1. INTRODUCTION

Many years ago people used to communicate with each other, face to face or through letters. To send a letter was not good, because it took so long to get to the receiver. After the creation of the telephone, it was possible for people to talk each other any time they wanted. The telephone helps people to communicate with each other better and immediately, rather tan waiting for letter which would take months.

This paper describes a research about phones and how they have helped in increasing the communication between people. It is important to understand the differences between the phone and the cell phone.

2. PHONES:

2.1 What is a phone?

The telephone is a device which can transmit and receive sound from other devices. Usually this can be connected to two people so that they can talk to each other [1]. The first telephone machine was created by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876, by a

machine called telegraphy, after the telegraph was developed and other machines like the telephone. Some of the developers were Thomas Edison and Martin Cooper. One of the last machines developed from the common phone is the cell phone.

2.2 Cell phones vs. Land line Phones:

1. Cell phones [2]

a. Good aspects

· Can be used out of a build

· Can communicate with people all over the world

· The battery keeps for a long time

· It is small and easy to carry when going out

· Have a screen and we can see the number which write and also photos and videos

· Can send a message to another person who has cell phone

· Can record video, can record audio, can take photos( the photos are like have take from digital camera), can have radio and at the end can play games (the games are free on the internet)

· Can change the number any time the user wants (buys a sim card)

· Can keep in the memory the number of other persons

b. Bad aspects

· Talking too long on a cell phone may cause serious health issues (If it is necessary for people to talk for many hours on the phone it is best they use a hands free device, this helps because they are not placing the phone near their head)

· Sometimes there is not a strong signal. The connection with the other person can have very low sound or the connection with other phone does not exist.

· Charging the battery can take a few hours

· Throwing the phone on the floor may destroy it

· Messages cannot be longer than 160 characters long

· The videos are not in good quality

2. Land line[3]

a. Good aspects

· Always have a good signal (There are no problems with the connection to other telephones)

· Have a screen (Help us to see the number which want to call)
Can keep in the memory the characteristics and the number of other persons

· It is less destructible

· There are not as many health side effects to using a landline.

b. Bad aspects

· Can be used only in the buildings or in the telephone stations which are in some standard locations in every city

· Cannot send message the one person to other because the technology in the land line phones is not so improved.

· The phones can connect only in buildings which have line from the company of telephony

· When communicating with other people they must be close to the machine

· Sometimes the company of the telephony improves the lines of the system and the same time we have no telephone at home

2.3 Cell phone on internet: [4]

With the new technology the cell phones improved and now can be connected on the internet. This is very good because now the users can do the same things which before do it only with computers. Now with the cell phones can enter in sites and send mails in other people. To connect on internet with cell phone is easier and faster than to connect with the pc. [5] In Japan 40% of the population uses cell phones to enter in the internet it can be used when walking or when in the car, because cell phone does not need wire to connect on internet and also is smaller than pc/laptop and the user can work with it easy.

2.4 Cell phones and Games:

Cell phones can do many things like record video, take photos, record videos and the best to play on it games. The games on cell phones are in JAVA language and can play in every cell phone. Every game there is in the game consoles now there is and in cell phones but of course with fewer graphic.

2.5 Smart phone [7] [8]:

Smartphone it is cell phone which have improved applications and make it to like more than computer. The Screen which has the Smartphone is touch screen (when the user want to call someone just push the numbers on the screen). In these cell phones can write like in the computer the only which user must do is to push the button from the keyboard in the screen. Also the smart phone can connect with the internet wireless from a router. Other applications in a Smartphone are PDF, Microsoft Office and the map navigation.

[6]

2.6 Cell phone vs. Smartphone:

The differences between a cell phone and a Smartphone are not much.

1. The buttons in Smartphone are on the screen the user can push them because is touch screen. The buttons in cell phones are on the machine

2. Other difference is that with the Smartphone can connected on internet and send mails but the cell phone can not do something of that.

3. In the Smartphone can use PDF or windows office files without problems, can use them like in pc. In the cell phone can not use them because have not the same technology

4. Another difference is that on Smartphone there is personal organizer which helps the user to remember his meeting. Also in the cell phone can only check the day which have a job.

5. In Smartphone the battery is on power less days than the battery of cell phones because the Smartphone have to run programs in the system.

2.7 Skype [9] [10]:

It is a peer-to-peer VoIP program. With this program the user can call and communicate with other people via internet on telephone. The user to call a telephone must pay only 1cent per 1 minute. The telephone which can call the user can be from all over the world but will be only landline phones. Also with Skype it is possible to send messages on internet and talk the same time with other people from everywhere. Some programs like Skype are (In Messages MSN, Yahoo IM) and (In telephones VoIP discount)

3. Conclusion

The cell phones have done the people to be more communicating each other. Now the cell phones have improved them technology and called Smartphones which is like computers. In the future the most people wish that they will not use computers and everything they want will do it from the cell phones.
